This book apparently had a limited run and is hard to find. I found it at Abe Books (online) – but paid a pretty penny for it. You can check the site occasionally and see if a copy is being sold at a reasonable price. You can also check your local libraries to see if they have a copy.

Your first question to me may be, “What has this got to do with the metaphysical and/or paranormal?” Electromagnetic fields generated by electronic items do have an affect on us. Also, homes with large electromagnetic fields within can produce sensations of paranoia (like someone is watching you), headaches, hear whispering, illness, etc. It is also theorized that “ghosts” are attracted to these high energy fields.

Cowan and Girdlestone explain manmade sources (technology in and around the home and workplace; cemeteries, mines, quarries, etc.) as well as natural sources (underground water pathways,) that can cause electromagnetic stress, or “electro-stress”. Earth energies (ley lines, subtle and telluric energy, spirals, waves, vortices, etc.) can also fall into the “electro-stress” category.

The authors also provide some ideas on how to check your home and work environment for exposure; what you can do to lessen your exposure, and some electromagnetic protection ideas.

No one is completely sure (or they are not saying) what the long term effects of exposure to electromagnetic stressors in such magnitude as we see today – but Cowan and Girdlestone were seeing the effects in the ‘90’s. It may be a good idea to check the “electro-stress” around you to lessen this interference. I believe that electromagnetic interference or overload can also interfere with metaphysical abilities.
