Very well put Pete. Thank you. As I said, it's not that it pisses me off, I just wasn't understanding. You shed a light on it for me. I do think that 8 to 10,000 for a week end work shop is a bit much though.

Hi Liz,

Excellent article. I would like to try to answer if I may.
I know that many of those who are teachers the really famous ones do indeed have seminars etc that can be quite costly.

I think this works out for everyone's benefit. For one the person giving the talk that can change peoples lives is more then compensated for their work.
Those who can afford the seminars are usually able to pay the high cost.

This allows the extra money to be put into spreading the word in a much larger capacity. New Books, materials, releasing books in various languages etc.

Also the word does get spread for free when someone who has attended a seminar, or read a book is able to share the wisdom they have gained. I know when I learn something I am always willing to share with others, especially if I think it is a benefit to them. I have been loaned books and lent out books.

That money often goes into foundations, and publishing houses which allow other metaphysics writers a place to go to get published a lot easier then trying to produce such books through normal publishing houses.

I do know many of them give back to people too through donations, charities etc.

I will admit, I would love to attend some seminars that are out of my range, but I am blessed with having a lot of people who are willing to share with me. Also there are a lot of programs and groups here that are donation only.
Many of these groups refer to the works of these teachers because they are well known. So the information does get around it just takes a while longer.

Money also does help in our society with credibility. Many of these teachers if they taught free out of their homes would be unknown to us. Yet with money they can rent large speaking halls with all the bells and whistles.

I do see where your coming from, though I can also see why they charge what they do.

Namaste Liz
