I am hearing from a few people about the turmoil felt within some families right now.

In 2001, families dealt with kids who felt that they could no longer see a future for themselves. The destruction of the Twin Towers blew away the feelings of hope and stability for many, including children.

Many felt “Why should I try? My world could end, be blown up, at any time. Why bother?”

And now a new challenge has arisen: 2012.

It’s on TV, YouTube, Facebook, etc. It seems to be everywhere.

Today’s youth is met with the end of the world coming in 2012. Why should they move forward? Why worry about school, goals, future plans, etc. when everything ends in 2012?

Why bother?

Unfortunately, it’s not just our youth…they are believing what they are hearing, watching, reading what is all around them – and they are taking their cues from us.

We are inundating our youth with this…so, why should they bother?

I do not have any one pat answer to address this issue – but I do feel that this is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak.

I also feel that we, the people, have the ability to “feed” our kids with hope; an understanding that we do have a future and that we should not give up and quit.

That is unless you’ve given up too…
