A single shoe in a dryer and the dryer is turned on. The uneven thumping of the shoe as the drum spins, dropping the shoe again and again.

You cringe each time it thumps. You tighten up because you know it’s going to thump again, but don’t know when. And you can’t wait for it to stop.

That’s the visual I have on how some people have been feeling these last two weeks.

It’s time to take a breather.

Twisted and Tight

I went to my chiropractor appointment and the doctor told me that I was twisted and tight. I said, “Yeah. It’s been a rough two weeks.”

“I’m sorry,” he tells me.

“It is what it is. It was my own doing.”

He also worked on my shoulders, “Relax, Jan.”

Enough said on that.

I wasn’t at the mercy of anyone or anything, except myself.

This is my first weekend I’ve had some time off since July – and I worked all during my vacation in July – which means I’ve been working seven days a week. Again. And I did it to me.

Today I stood in the kitchen cooking my vegan carrot ‘hot dogs’. Hubby walked in and looked at me leaning against the counter. I smiled. “I don’t know what to do with myself,” I tell him. “It’s been so long since I’ve had time off.” A giggle escaped me. “I get to pick!”

He chuckled.

Now that I’ve allowed myself some breathing room – yes, again, it was my doing – I remembered that I should regularly take time to relax; to allow myself some down time to rejuvenate myself.

And that’s what I’m doing today. I don’t want to put myself in that position again…where my body is so tense because I’ve scheduled way too much.

Please take time to relax – your energy, body and mind will appreciate the rejuvenation time.
