We, humans, are programmed from childhood to “do” from the moment we get wake up until we go to bed. We live with both physical and mental noise – music, videos, social media posts, conversations, sound pollution around us and then there’s our own constant internal chatter.

We are so busy, filling every second of our day. We bombard ourselves with sounds, noise, and activities to keep our attention outwards – because if we stop, then what? What will happen?

Someone asked, “Why am I afraid of the silence?”

Maybe you’re afraid of what truths you may reveal to yourself.

The Sound of Silence

~

The Sound of Silence
rushing in my ears;
something no one else hears.

Played in perfect harmony,
whispers, “No one can copy me.”

~

Silence can feel deafening – a roaring in a void. But within the void is truth.

Because we’ve been trained to keep our attention external, many have feared to let the silence in – to sit in it and allow it to share with us. Our true thoughts – our truths – are often contained there, waiting for us to be still and listen.

Silence also helps us to center or re-balance ourselves, and is often sought in the form of meditation. And through silence, we can learn our true self, our own energy, and, as mentioned before, our truths.

Do You Know Silence?

Do you allow the silence in, or are you afraid of it?

What do you hear in the Silence?
